Quiz nights are an increasingly popular way to enjoy a drink and a giggle. We found five regular quiz nights in Subiaco including discounted burgers, free drinks and even a prize for last place.
Monday night quiz nights at Fenway already attract an established and loyal base from hosting quiz nights as their former Paddy Maguire’s for years. With free entry as well as a prize for last place, it’s easy to see why. As a classic pub quiz offering general knowledge questions that cater to all ages, this is the pick for families wanting a pub feed and a bit of a giggle to start the week. Bookings are preferred with teams allowed a maximum of 8 people. First place (and wooden spoon winners) can expect vouchers to be used at Fenway.
The Village Bar
If you like winning free jugs of beer, you might want to brush up on your general knowledge for cheap Tuesday quiz nights at The Village Bar. With no limits on team numbers, you can make it a bit of an office party to spice up an otherwise average weeknight. Entry is free and quiz-goers are treated to a $15 burger special, so you can chow down whilst you name the capital of Uzbekistan—what’s not to love?
Although closed for renovations until November 2020, Subiaco Hotel hosts arguably the most well-known quiz night in the area, with themes such as Disney and Happy Potter as some past crowd favourites. On every Wednesday at 7pm, the themes change monthly, with the first quiz back set to be ‘All Things 90’s’, perfect for the Spice Girls-loving, double-denim-donning, Tamagotchi-wearing 90s kids. Winners can expect prizes from bar vouchers, to bottles of wine and craft beers. Entry is free, so grab 1 to 9 of your nerdiest pals for a guaranteed good time.
The Corner Gallery
For something a little different from your classic pub quiz, head down to the cosy Corner Gallery for their themed trivia nights. They don’t run regularly, so you’ll have to check their socials for upcoming events, but with themed nights such as ‘Australiana film’, 80’s trivia and all things music, it’s certainly worth the wait. With teams from 1 to 4 people in a rather small venue, this is certainly a more intimate affair than quiz nights at the big pubs. Although this is the only quiz night with an entry fee, your ticket includes a drink and freshly made popcorn, so the $5 ticket is a steal. Every quiz night has sold out in advance, so it’s best to nab tickets sooner rather than later!
The Irish Club of Western Australia
If you are feeling the luck of the Irish, quiz nights at The Irish Club of Western Australia could be for you. Running every Tuesday at 7pm for groups of up to 6, this event is particularly popular amongst the after-work crew and friend groups from Ireland, although everyone is welcome! Their questions cover a wide range of topics with a sprinkle of Irish-specific questions and hover over the difficult end of the trivia spectrum. Although winners do not receive a pot of gold at the end, the $5 entry fee goes back into a cash prize pool (a rare get for pub quizzes), with other prizes including bar vouchers and wine.
