Subi’s newest recycled pop-up boutique offering op-shop tours & free styling

Tucked away inside CVue Property Managers just off Hay Street is Re_find Preloved Pop-Up, a curated thrift shop manned by a personal stylist with a mission to provide sustainable and affordable fashion.

Best described as the happy middle ground between the often-overpriced vintage stores and classic op-shops, Re_find is a recycled boutique offering up a carefully curated selection of second-hand (and some with tags still attached!) clothing, homewares and accessories at a very reasonable price. A predominantly one-woman-show, owner and qualified Image Consultant Emma Sher sources all the items and runs the store by herself, with backup support of a few of her fashion tribe when she’s out taking a preloved shopping tour, or working with a client 1:1 in their wardrobe or hitting the shops. Walking through the glittery doors, her keen eye for style shines through, with in-store show stoppers including a pair of Jeffrey Campbell heels, a Cooper St dress and other pre-loved designer gems.

The store opened in late September 2020, but the idea had been in the works for some time before that. A Melbourne native and global traveller and collector, Emma made the move to Perth in 2018 and after exploring the local op-shops & consignment boutiques in her free time whilst looking for work, the idea of hosting op-shop tours came to her.

A year down the track, the tours have grown to include five locations across Perth, including hotspots Mount Hawthorn, Fremantle and Mosman Park. Emma takes you on a walking journey through the best op-shops as well as the smaller, lesser-known recycled boutiques within the specific area, helping you sift through to find hidden treasures and giving styling tips along the way. With groups of no more than six people, Emma can give enough attention to everyone and create a more personal community vibe within the group. Tours go for 3.5 hours and are priced at $85, including a coffee to start, VIP discount vouchers from store partners, goody bags, the personal styling service and finishing up with a group drink & nibble.

Emma started up an online store to sell her curated selection of pre-loved goodies alongside the tours, however when the experiences were forced to come to a temporary halt due to COVID-19, her sights were set on opening a pop-up store to get the word out once restrictions could be lifted. As of October 10, the tours are back on, and the shop is open!

Emma told us that the store both provides the opportunity to connect people over recycled fashion and style as well as spread the word about the effect of fast fashion on the environment. Having a physical store also gives Emma a base to help customers with 1:1 styling as well as host VIP shopping nights, where groups can hire out the shop for a personal shopping-styling experience, and enjoy some bubbles, nibbles and an exclusive rack of clothes.

In-store items start from just $5, and if you donate clothing or homewares that fit the brand aesthetic, you can expect 20% off your next purchase.
