Leading the way for Perth, Subi’s hiring boutiques are part of a global trend toward sustainable fashion, which has seen people choosing to hire rather than buy their next outfit. Offering an extensive range of evening and cocktail outfits from a variety of high-end designer brands, these three Subi rental boutiques offer an affordable way to wear otherwise exorbitantly priced dresses.
One Night Stand
After the opening of its first store in Adelaide back in 2012, One Night Stand has grown to become a national rental boutique stocking a large variety of gorgeous dresses from Australia’s top designers. Inspired by her family’s 50-year legacy in the formal hire and garment care industry, founder Natalia envisaged and developed a boutique where luxurious brands are readily accessible. Exclusively selling high-end brands such as D’lelle, expect to be spoilt for choice as you peruse their range of extravagant evening gowns and funky vintage two-piece sets. Open daily, you can order online, over the phone, browse in-store or book an appointment with their stylist. Once you’ve made jaws drop in your stylish gown and you’ve returned it, you’ll receive your $100 bond back – and you don’t even need to clean the dress!
Hush Hire is Subi’s most affordable hiring boutique with an extensive range of over 600 designer gowns. From jumpsuits, two-piece sets, day dresses, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, handbags, furs and even bridal gowns, their selection is vast and appropriate for any occasion. Gown hire starts at just $99 and more casual attire ranges from $49-99. You can book an appointment online with their in-house stylist who will help you find the perfect outfit to suit your occasion. With a champagne in hand, walk the catwalk under their crystal chandelier feeling a million bucks in your carefully selected outfit. Book your pick-up time online and collect your dress one to two days before your event. Hush Hire ask that all hirers return their dresses to Cloud9 Dry Cleaners on 1 Leura Ave Claremont the following business day between 7:30am and 5:30pm with a cost of only $18 – 25.
Perth’s very first hiring boutique started out when founder Mia Theodropoulos decided to hire out her own dresses from the spare room of her mum’s house. In 2011, she elevated this idea and established Something Borrowed, which has led the way for rental boutiques as a popular fashion destination in Perth. With over 200 designer outfits, take your pick from luxurious evening gowns and their expanding collection of cocktail dresses and two-piece sets. Saturday from 10am-4pm is the only day for public walk-ins and can get crazy busy, so we suggest booking an appointment between Wednesday to Friday.
In your styling consultation, whether individual or in a group, you will have access to their entire wardrobe to try their signature designer dresses from Lexi, Saint Laurent and Winona to name a few. Their professional stylist will make sure your look is complete with shoes, jewellery, accessories and hair and makeup tips. If you know exactly what you’re after, feel free to email or call to hire your chosen dress. With exceptions to different occasions, the standard rental period is for one weekend with the average rate being around $140. So, whether you have a date night, work function or a wedding, Something Borrowed will make sure you are properly glammed up. Their policy is that you pay a 50% non-refundable deposit beforehand with the second half paid at collection.
