Feel good shopping from Subiaco stores giving back to the community

For many of us, finding ways to reduce waste and shop ethically has become an important factor when it comes to our purchasing decisions. For those of you seeking out organisations that use your dollars to create a greener, happier world, we have compiled a list of our favourite local shops doing just that. Here are six places where can feel good shopping for that special gift or cute new outfit.

Bstore

Subiaco’s beloved shoe store on Rokeby Road is a family-run boutique that has been dedicated to making the Earth a little greener since opening their doors in 2001. Known as one of the first stores to introduce iconic eco-friendly brand, Birkenstocks, to WA, Bstore is taking yet another step towards sustainability with their 1-for-1 Tree Project.

For every pair of shoes purchased at Bstore, a native tree will be planted in WA’s depleted Wheatbelt region, in bushfire restoration projects across Australia, or a fruit tree donated to farmers in African nations to provide sustainable income.

Not only will your conscience be eased by the ethical production of your shoes, but you can rest easy knowing that your purchases are going towards reducing climate change, restoring vital ecosystems for native fauna and flora, and giving disadvantaged communities a leg up. Double warm and fuzzies!

Reloved Fashion

With 500,000 tonnes of clothing ending up in landfill every year, shopping second-hand is a great way to protect the Earth and save some cash.

Run by the RSPCA WA, Reloved Fashion is a boutique clothing store dedicated to rehoming pre-loved, high-quality clothing and shoes.

There’s something for all tastes in this Subiaco store, with plenty of unique vintage pieces and contemporary brands on their sales racks. Keep an eye out for designer labels that occasionally pop up, such as Christian Louboutin, Yves St. Laurent and Louis Vuitton – all selling for a fraction of their regular price. Repeat customers are in luck, as memberships are available offering rewards points for purchases and other great bonuses.

All proceeds from the store go towards the RSPCA’s animal rescue program, and the rehoming of remarkable animals in need of a family – so not only is this a more sustainable way to upgrade your wardrobe (without blowing the budget), it’s helping furry friends in need, too!
