Inside Old Values, featuring old school fire truck & vintage arcade games

Old becomes new again at Rokeby Road’s newest lounge bar Old Values, located at the upstairs venue where Club Kahuna once was.

The space looks nothing like its former self and as the name suggests and co-owner Somer confirms, the theme is “rustic, old school vibes.” Upon entering, we were met with a historic organ for a pay station, vintage bikes and rustic wooden doors hanging from the roof under the warm glow of period-style chandeliers.

Old school bus seats are used for booths for a chat and bite to eat on one end of the room and a dance floor with an old school fire truck is used for the DJ booth on the other. In a bit of a balancing act, the new owners have set up a ‘sound curtain’ to keep the booth space quiet enough to be able to actually hear each other while still keeping the dance floor loud and pumping.

Determined to steer clear of a club vibe, Old Values has opted for soft light pulsing to the music, rather than the typical strobe lights.

Keeping it in the Subi family, the owners commissioned local @artbyrow for the wall art, with one wall displaying a spray-painted Frida Khalo guns blazing and another detailing the cast of cult-classic Peaky Blinders.

In a special feature for the kids at heart, Old Values is decked out with vintage arcade games including the original Donkey Kong, Space Invaders and of course, Pac-man.

Old Values host an array of food events, such as bottomless tequila and jalapeno nights, wine tastings from the Swan Valley and craft beer tastings. Keep an eye on our events page for event announcements.
