Welcome to the Otherside is back in Subiaco to see out the summer sunshine, popping up (again) behind the Corner Gallery from March 11-28.
Brewed up by the powerhouse behind Otherside Brewing Co. and Freo.Social, the venue transforms the space behind the iconic pink walls of the Corner Gallery into a hidden bar. Down the rabbit hole, you’ll find a container bar with a rooftop area (think Fringeworld) and a kids play area. Plus, live music is on every Friday from 4.30pm and Saturday from 2pm, with DJs taking over in the late afternoon. Surprisingly, the little-known space can actually accommodate up to 450 people, so the more the merrier.
Food & Drink Offerings
There’s a clear WA focus, with a 20-tap bar pouring pints of the Otherside core range and experimental brews, Vasse Felix wines, ciders and WA spirits. Most importantly, happy hour is every Friday and Saturday from 6-7pm, with $10 Pampelle spritz and Watermelon Mojitos on offer. Welcome to the Otherside will be hopping to new locations over summer, with each spot getting its own cocktail menu, food trucks and local guest cooks.
To fit the brief of a beer garden, Ellenby Tree Farm is providing over 100 trees and plants for the venue. Serving as both decoration and a shopping experience, all plants and trees will be for sale. So, if you spy one that could be the newest addition to your plant collection, you’ll be able to take it home with you at the end of the night.
Welcome to the Otherside was born to re-activate areas where local favourites have recently shut due to COVID. So, it’s no coincidence that the Triple-1-Three team picked Subiaco to start with,
“We saw the site in Subiaco, behind the pink Corner Gallery, with its oddly interesting urban scape and graffiti walls, we thought “perfect” and it’s just down the road from the recently closed Vic Hotel. So, we worked a way to bring the space to life.”
Welcome to the Otherside is open from Thursday, March 11 – Sunday, March 28 just behind 263 Hay Street, Subiaco. Opening hours are Thursdays; 4-9pm, Fridays; 4-11pm, Saturdays; 11am-11pm and Sundays; 11am-8pm. For more information, see their Facebook event here.
