We’re always on the search for the latest and greatest caffeine hit, so when we heard that six days of coffee festivities will be taking over Subiaco, we needed to investigate.
Subi Coffee Series is happening August 10-16 thanks to See Subiaco, with an exciting program of events, tours and activities by your favourite local purveyors.
You can honour your daily ritual with everything from a pop-up laneway lunch to a dessert walking tour, laced with coffee, of course! In addition, there are masterclasses, brunches, pop up bars and even an espresso martini town take over. We chatted to the organisers to find out the lowdown. Here are our hot picks.
Caffeinated Treats
Running two sessions most days, High Coffee at Eli & Matt Patisserie is going to be buzzing. Putting a twist on their already renowned high tea, their dessert platter of delectable sweet treats will be laced with caffeine – think coffee eclairs and scones.
For the Connoisseur
Looking to up your coffee knowledge game? Blacklist Coffee Tasting Experience is the event for you. Held at the Blacklist Coffee Roasters elegant concept store on Hay Street, these coffee aficionados will guide you through an array of single origin coffees, with insights and tasting notes for each. By the end of the session you’ll come out with info sure to impress your friends.
Roving Coffee Experience
Delivered by the legendary team at Two Feet and a Heartbeat, who are known widely for their epic walking tours, along with their insider and historical knowledge of Perth and surrounds. This will be a chance to wander to little-known pockets in Subiaco, tasting an array of coffee inspired desserts along the way.
Perth’s Biggest Espresso Martini Party?
If there is one date to mark above all others, it’s Friday, August 14. A contender for most espresso martinis in one day, we have Subi’s Coffee Cocktail Takeover. Expect an energy-fuelled atmosphere not to be missed as local favourites like the Subi Hotel, Refuge Small Bar and Hangout on Hay prepare their most creative coffee-fused cocktail concoctions. Blacklist Coffee Roasters will also open late with a pop-up bar. It isn’t a Friday night without live entertainment, so head over to Cupid Catering’s laneway bar, opening exclusively for the night, for all the hits, both cocktail and music.
